A Message From Our Pastor
The word "church" can be a loaded term. For some, the word connects them to God and represents love, welcome, community, family, belonging, generosity or mercy. For others, the word "church" can be a painful reminder of experiences of judgment, rejection, hurt and empty words. Having personally experienced both of these throughout my faith journey in a variety of different places, and in hearing about others' many varying experiences of church, I am aware of how much is at stake when a person enters the doors of Presbury UMC.
I often tell the congegation at Presbury that Sunday is my favorite day because I get to worship with them. When I am with my church family at Presbury, I am reminded that I am loved and belong to God and that I don't have to do life alone - that I have a church family that truly cares and embraces me no matter what. My experience is not unique at Presbury. Over and over again, I hear similar experiences from folks, who say that Presbury is a loving church family who truly cares for one another and our community. We are church that doesn't take ourselves too seriously and yet does some seriously impactful ministry in and for our community.
I am so grateful to be the pastor of such a faith-filled and loving community. We don't claim to be perfect, but we do claim the goodness of God and our call to do all the good we can. I get to witness every day the small and big ways Presbury lives out its mission as we strive to be a beacon in our community by sharing God's love. I invite you to join in the ministry of light and love at Presbury, and wholeheartedly welcome you into our loving church family.
In Christ's love,
