IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT CORONAVIRUS AND PRESBURY

Due to concerns about the coronavirus and the need to comply to the executive order by Governor Hogan for the closure of all non-essential businesses, Bishop LaTrelle Easterling has directied all UMC congregations in the Baltimore-Washington Conference to close their buildings through April 26th. During this time, Presbury's building will remain closed and we will be worshiping remotely via online and conference call.

There are three ways you can participate in Presbury's ministry over the next two weeks.

1.WORSHIP - We will be worshipping via Zoom on Sundays at 10 AM. Zoom allows us to worship together via phone or online. There is even a Zoom app you can download to your smart phone, but it is not necessary in order for you to participate. When you connect to Zoom, there are options to join via video or just strictly through audio. We look forward to worshipping with you!

There are two ways you can join worship service via Zoom

You can join this service via Zoom at this web address:

2. PRAY and REACH OUT: We are giving updates via our facebook page, email and phone tree.  Let us know if you have any prayer requests. Reach out to one another via phone, text, social media or email. Just because we aren’t able to be physically present with one another in our building does not mean that we must be isolated from one another. Pray for those who are sick, for a vaccine to be developed quickly, for those most vulnerable to this virus, for hospitals and medical professionals, for our government leaders, for our economy, and for those who are stressed and anxious. Indeed, there is so much to pray for! We as a church family can be a beacon of God's love to people by supporting, encouraging and praying for one another and our community. Our building may be closed, but our ministry continues in powerful ways!

3. GIVE GENEROUSLY - We also encourage you to remember to continue your generous financial support of your church while our building is closed, knowing that ministry continues. There are two ways you can give your tithes and offerings over the next couple of weeks: You can give through our website at www.presburyumc.com by clicking the “Give Online” tab where you will be directed to give securely through Tithe.ly. You may also mail us your offering to PO Box 175, Edgewood, MD 21040.

It can be easy in a time like this to be overwhelmed by fear and anxiety. So, as we encourage you to wash your hands and practice social distancing, we also encourage you to breathe deeply the peace of God and the hope found in our healing Savior’s love. These words from the apostle Paul seem fitting for such a time as this: “Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Peace and blessings,

Presbury UMC

"You’re here to be light,
bringing out the God-colors
in the world.
God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this,
as public as a city on a hill.
If I make you light-bearers,
you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you?
I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there
on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!"

Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)
